About this atlas
A free, independent front door to orbital images of Mars, built to make the first step into JMARS easier. Independent project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Arizona State University, the JMARS team, NASA, JPL, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Arizona, Malin Space Science Systems or Cornell University.
Where the data comes from
- Image search, previews and file links: the Orbital Data Explorer (ODE), PDS Geosciences Node, Washington University in St. Louis, through its public REST interface. Files download from NASA Planetary Data System archives and the instrument teams' servers.
- Place names: the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature, IAU Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature and USGS Astrogeology. Public domain.
- Basemaps: Viking MDIM 2.1 color mosaic (NASA/JPL-Caltech/USGS) and THEMIS day infrared controlled mosaic (NASA/JPL-Caltech/Arizona State University), served as tiles by NASA's Mars Trek.

Being a good neighbor to ODE
Every search is cached at the edge for six hours and every preview for a week. Searches are capped in size and number. Requests identify this site. If you run ODE and want anything changed, reach me through swapniltamse.com.
